The Elder Scrolls Travels: Morrowind
ALPHA Version 0.7
- Improved walking animations
- Added dozens of NPC sprite models
- Added the Canalworks, including original content: a bathworks, latrine, and dormitory.
- Rudimentary Journal/Quest system, with some tutorial directions and 1 proper quest given by a scholarly Orc.
- More quests are planned.
- I am brainstorming mini-games that add to cozy, immersive vibes.
- I have ideas for some more first-person perspective elements.
- Plaza interiors are next, including the Mages Guild and Fighters guild. But don't expect them to want much from a commoner like you...
ALPHA Version 0.6.10

- Added more interiors
- Still many placeholder NPC sprites
- Plaza interiors and the canalworks are next.
ALPHA Version 0.6.7
With this update we finally have the components necessary for quests! Soon you may be able to do something in this game! Hint: Don't try to investigate the giant mudcrab yet!
- Created the Journal, accessed through "SELECT"
- Locked the doors
- Added a couple interiors in Seyda Neen
- Upgrades to inventory

Dont stop cooking this game, i want it complete in my plate!
this is excellent work. it manages to translate the morrowind vibe quite accurately!
That looks very good!
Can you Upload the Analogue Pocket Version as well? That would be nice :)
elder scrolls on a gameboy :)))
you can run gameboy carts on itch here ? or is that somehow gbstudio or other exported to html5 ??
There is a button at the top of the page to play the game in your browser.
yes, thanks, i saw and sorry for the late reply. I dont live much online lately (or maybe at all hmm ...)
i was just wondering if its a service itch provides (specific embedding per platform like gb / tic80 / other ...) or something you exported yourself from whatever tool you're using.
It looks really great, the concept of elder scrolls on a gameboy never would have occured to me
I made the game with GBstudio and it has a feature to export to web which includes the emulator.
thanks for sharing that :))) you got some talent, man
Dude its getting so good!!!!!!!!. I had an idea for an alchemy mini game maybe, where you select three items then they get placed in a mortar and have to tap target circles around the bowl as a pestel swings around the bowl in a mixing fashion. I picture something similar to the berry mixing game from pokemon emerald version
Oh that sounds like a fun little addition. Inam thinking about doing some mini games. Rihht now I am adding a bunch more books, and I dont k ow how much rom space they will take. Then I am going to add more and better sound. And then maybe some mini games.
Man i cant wait, it already blown my mind how much youve been abel to fit so far
Hello. Will you be please kind to share with me where did You find it?
Hello. People usually put YouTube videos of the games they record here, and I don't see any. Am I allowed to record this beautifuly awesome and gorgeous game? 0.0
Please do! I'm a private person so I haven't recorded anything beyond a short.
Thank you so very much! I wasn't sure. Keep on, keeping on! ^_^
I made a gameplay of it and I had really awesome fun! I first time played it, and I didn't want to run it and remember all where I was. It's really one of the best demakes I ever played. Keep on, keeping on! 11/10
I immediately tried to steal the limeware platter. 12/10
We should establish new guild, and name it "The Brotherhood of Stealing". xD
Well done on making such a beautiful little game! I love the music and the design. It runs well on my GBA everdrive with no issues.
I do have one question. I have arrived at Vivec, and I’ve paid for my room and learned the true secrets of the Orc’s. Is there any more content past this point? I’ve explored all the rooms and there are no new quests.
That is all i have for now. Each race does have a slightly different experience finding a place to sleep in Vivec (e.g. beast races have to use the dormitory). There are a couple secrets to discover yet, but you have completed all the quests in this version. Thanks for playing!
Sick! I was just checking. I’ll try out some of those characters. Well done again!
Just whipped out my laptop so fast to copy this over to my Analogue Pocket, which seems to be running it just fine using the budude2 gbc core v1.3.3
Hi, just made an account to say this is such a cool project. Thank you for your time and effort, it was really fun!
Thank you for the comment! I appreciate all the feedback I get, truly.
I loved this game so much on my Everdrive, shortest time yet most personality in a gb game ever. I honestly will sometimes just boot up the file on my gbc and listen to the menu music, because it’s better than the original Dragonborn’s song. And here’s the thing, I HAVENT EVEN PLAYED MORROWIND! There is no rose-tinted nostalgia glasses through which I view this project, still my favoritedemake. I would love to see more areas added or maybe some other little fangame, I’m here for it! (But side note, the glitch where it tells you the door is locked and then you zoom helplessly out of screen is so annoying!)
Thank you for the kind words! I'm still working on the project. In the meantime, I implore you to play Morrowind (with openMW), I think you will love it!
Alright
How did you do this?
I would love to make a GBA rom like this myself o3o
GB Studio! It's easy to get started. Nothing like it exists for GBA, yet...
Aww damn! I just started drawing and everything ^^;
That's how I started!
Just give it more time. I tried to have fun with it, but I am unpatient person... it's really awesome. For me, it was easier than RPG VX Ace to be honest with you, just watch the tutorials! You can do this!!!
In Vivec I get the message “The door is locked,” and my character goes straight out of the map through obstacles and walls. It’s a cool idea, though. I’ll keep an eye on future updates.
Yeah, that is a bug that I don't know how to fix yet.
Hey, so, stupid question. Am I supposed to be able to get past the first room of the Excise Office? No seriously. I'm clearly missing something.
Go out the way you came.
This game is amazing, excellent work! Super serene and atmospheric
This is really cool! I hope some day it'll be finished somehow (I don't know where you want to push it, can't put the entire Morrowind in it I suppose) and to have it with RetroAchievements!
This is so cool, excited to follow the development of this.
This is so rad and creative. Man oh man. I saw this on YT and immediately came here to download / share it. Everyone was very excited about it and I really hope you continue.
I loved it!
Morrowind is my favorite TES, and this demo is really cute and cozzy
This is such a beautiful game. Short and of course still in development. I really like the ability to read some of the texts in the game and the character creation. Note for the dev, in the Black Shulk (or Skulk) the second level at the bottom of the room has a glitch where 1. walking past the dark skinned person there's a visual glitch where it makes them look like they disappeared 2. can't move down to go to person at bottom right.
Best wishes with your development of this game!
Super cute and creative! As a huge MW fan, I would absolutely play a full game like this. <3
It would be really funny if you gave Vivec some lines that made him sound aware of this. He's already vaguely aware of save states so it's not too far a stretch.
Good idea. I don't plan on having him in the ame, but maybe in the future! How would a simple ex-con meet a living god who stays in his temple?
Maybe some sort of delivery quest? A letter off a dead buoyant armiger (some sort of report on the Ghostfence's strength) if you get to that point?
This is actually fascinating. It's like a single quest from Morrowind as its own game.
I haven't played morrowind before, is this considered a true experience? I'm fine with graphical mods but I dont want any mods that change the game too much
LOL TEST Morrowind is a completely new experience that happens in parallel with TES Morrowind. Looks awesome on your hardware!
This looks awesome. Huge TES fan here, love 'em all, especially Morrowind.
how can I pay for this? I want to show support
Please show support by telling friends and comment what you like about it and what you would like to see me add. You can also donate money to the creators I listed in the credits. Thank you!
Oh wow, this is great! I love the choices you've made! Translating Morrowind to the GB is certainly hard, but I feel like you made all the right choices. Putting this on my emulator to give it a proper go!
Thank you. I have slowed down a bit. Playing some games for inspiration and where to go next. I have a feel for how the game world is going to be, the harser thing has been fun gameplay. I just finished Outer Wilds, and I am currently playing Disco Elysium and 007 for gameboy, to give you some idea of where my head is at.
let me know how you beat the final sequence in that game with the shields and lightning and stuff, I’m stuck on that!
cool and good
It is fantastic! don't stop the work on it pls :)
This is exciting! I don't have any suggestions or anything, I just happened to google "Morrowind demake" and found you! Keep up the good work!
I know this is simply a parody project, but I was still thoroughly happy to have stumbled across this and gone through what you've made so far. Honestly I was expecting more, lol, but I hadn't read the dev logs yet until after I had gone through things. Seyda Neen looked quite beautiful.
And nice psych with the limeware platter.
Thank you! Do you think I should advertise the early stage and scope of the game better?
What you like to see added next? I am brainstorming what the gameplay will look like.
I think you're mostly fine with communication on the scope of the game, it would've been ridiculous to assume this was going to be anything like the actual Morrowind on a GBC and I was very excited to play as a simple fan. Take my feedback with a grain of salt, I'm not a game dev, but I think you should capitalize on your art elements within the ability that the Gameboy Color allows you and keep this as an interactive adventure game. Keep your work on parodying Morrowind, add in quest elements and perhaps puzzles tied to those so it isn't solely walking and talking + you can test gameplay elements within the tiny scope of puzzles.
You already have plans to add in a questline and you should keep on track. I actually went looking to see if I could get Fargoth's ring back initially, but I see after another playthrough that it was meant to be a simple cutscene switching a variable to spawn the thief in the Tradehouse as a talking NPC with nothing more to it.
Thank you. I'm not a game dev either! Not until recently anyway.
Ya, and good luck to you, keep working hard on it. I showed a friend of mine some screenshots after I had sent my reply. Just forgot to check back for yours.
They aren't as much of an Elder Scrolls fan as me. They really liked your sprite work, albeit they did say the point outside the boat felt a bit visually cluttered but did agree with the idea that you should work on art here.
yo dawg i need a new gnw first but ima a make a morrowind game n watch over a loz or smb one once ur done. the rom will work perfectly if its gb or gbc, but also gbstudio works well on n64 through the emu conversion site
That sounds very cool! I hope my game can live up to such a project! It will be a gbc ROM so it should work well for you.
